In addition to our practices and artwork, we also prepared for the day by learning about World War I, World War II, the Depression, and the Boom years! We even had a special guest speaker come in to speak with us about peace and teamwork. His name was Ordinal Seaman Matha and he was a Navy Marine with the Canadian Armed Forces. He talked about how his job is not to go to war, but to help keep peace. He compared his job to being similar to keeping the peace in the classroom. It is our job to treat each other with respect and kindness and if not, the teachers may have to step in to help out. Their role is the same. To step in and help out. He also reminded us the importance of teamwork and that if someone is hurt or struggling, it is important that we look out for one another! We enjoyed meeting Seaman Matha and hearing real-life stories from his perspective.
In Math, we continued talking about the difference between 1st hand and 2nd hand data and have started looking at different 2D shapes.
There will be a lot of memorials for Remembrance Day this weekend, so if you are looking for something fun to do with your family on the holiday Monday, it's worth checking out the following link:
