Directions:
Each student will be asked to create a 5-day weather forecast presentation. Student are responsible for their assignment
Process:
1. Start by watching this weather forecast video and notice the different aspects included in the forecast.
3. For example: What do they talk about besides the temperature? Do they predict the amount of rainfall or just say if there will be rainfall?
2. Familiarize yourself with the weather vocabulary that must be used in your broadcast.
Look up definitions for the following weather vocab?
Temperature Pressure systems weather fronts precipitation
Humidity prevailing winds cloud coverage fog
overcast climate dew point Doppler Radar

3. Research normal weather patterns for Calgary at this time of year by looking at these sites:
You might also use the weather records you recorded from last week.
4. Create a visual, 5-day weather forecast for Calgary based on your findings. You can use the powerpoint template here or create your own. You should include maps, graphics and a one-slide table demonstrating the 5-day forecast
5. Include a story in your presentation that focuses on how weather affects our lives. You may make this story up, conduct fake or real interviews, or use other methods to tell an interesting weather story.
The story might be about a:
severe thunderstorm, hurricane, earthquake, tornado, flood, heat advisory, lightning
6. Practice your presentation. You can choose to record your weather forecast and bring in the recording or you can do the presentation live in class. The overall presentation should be between 4 to 6 minutes.
