REMINDERS!
1. Please remember your French fashion show clothes for Monday.
2. Students are invited to wear a pink shirt to support anti-bullying on Wednesday.

Wednesday Feb 19th, 2020
Hello Wonderful Room 8 & 9 Families,
Our Celebration of Learning is coming up, mark your CALENDAR: Thursday, February 26th, 2020 at 1:30pm. Both Grade 5 TLC classes will be performing along with Mr. Hartmann's and Leung's Grade 4 TLC class and Ms. Thraya's Grade 1 TLC class.
Math:
We will be playing various math center games to enhance basic operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, practicing place value placement, simplifying fractions, and strategic thinking involving dice, patterns, and technology.
Language Arts:
Heartful Publishing has asked grade 5 TLC students to rewrite a modern version of the book " The Little Engine That Could". Students will be making connections to this book and various subjects such as Health, Art and Social Studies, that connect to the story, ideology, illustrations, and meaning. We will also be looking at the conceptual understanding of the question: " What is the relationship between changes in Society and Literacy that we read?"
Social Studies:
The majority of students have finished up their Canada Regions Wool art and will be displayed outside in the hallway for our Student-Led Conferences on Thursday, March 19th, 2020.
Students research their regions to create an advertisement about all the great things in their region. The following image shows what students should include in their write up.
Science Electric Cars are put on hold until we finish with our Celebration of Learning performance. We will be practicing our performances various times this week and next week. This week students will be finishing up their Heart ART designs and PIZZA FRACTIONS. Students have begun their novel study with Ms. AT, they are reading "Miracle at Willowcreek" which also relates to the Science unit, Wetlands.
Looking Ahead:
Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 is "Pink SHIRT DAY" If possible students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt 👚 this day.

Friday, March 20th, 2020 Non-Instructional Day NO SCHOOL for students
Saturday, March 21st, 2020 to Sunday, March 29th, 2020 SPRING BREAK
