Math:
Various of word and riddle math problems for wake up work. We reviewed place value and number sense work on value of digits and how to express numbers up to a million in expanded form and written form.
Social Studies:
Students got into groups this week to discuss each party's platform and share their research with one another. Students were very engaged in this discussion with a lot of back and fourth opinions regarding leaders and party promises. Ms. Gill, also on Monday discussed with all students the process of voting so each student was ready Thursday to take part in the STUDENT VOTE!
Students also took a closer look at the candidates in the SKYVIEW Riding and discuss issues that they are concerned about with their peers.
Science:
Students learned about the various clouds around Calgary and their names. We went over the water cycle. We looked at the difference6 between weather and climate. During our discussion, examples, videos and visual diagrams students took notes and drew images/diagrams. Under student support information and links on the right side of the blog I have a section for weather where kids can play games and learn about weather vocabulary and the different clouds.
Language Arts:
Students wrote a summary if what has happened in our reading of the novel "Fatty Legs"
We also did a health/writing lesson on "Gratitude". What it means and why is it important. Students created a visual/artistic visual journal page around what "Gratitude" means to them and what they are grateful for in their lives.

We had a sharing circle and shared the meaning behind our names. Students found that to be really cool.
