Elections, Authors, and Art, Oh My!

What a busy week it was!

We started off the week with a visit from our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Harder. She read us a great book and asked for our help. She 'hired' us to decorate her office. We worked hard on our art pockets and can't wait to see how she will use all of them in her space! Here are just a few of them to enjoy...

Students were very excited to discuss the election results on Tuesday and spent some time answering questions about them. Whether or not they were happy with the results, they certainly enjoyed this whole process and are looking forward to voting as soon as they turn 18!

Another highlight of our week was our visit from author, Marty Chan. Marty performed some magic, told us some stories of his childhood, and made us laugh. He reminded us to listen to our teachers when they tell us we need more detail in our writing and that we can turn any experience into a story! We will get an opportunity to order his books sometime soon!

Later in the week we had a Gratitude circle and expressed our appreciation for others. We all noticed how it felt really good to not only be told you are appreciated, but also to tell someone you appreciated them! Certainly something we should all remember to do!

We ended the week with some watercolour art to prepare for OUR upcoming Remembrance Day assembly. That's right...Rooms 8 & 9 will be hosting our Remembrance Day assembly. More details to follow!

Well, that is just a SMALL sample of what we did this past week! Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend!

Happy Diwali to all families celebrating!!!
